Remediation work at the closed Bristol landfill continues

Remediation efforts at the closed Bristol, Virginia landfill are continuing. The city, still compliant with a federal court order, is seeking bids for a gas collection and control system for the landfill that was shut down in 2022. Mayor Becky Nave says complaints about odors have been down and said they continue to take seriously the remediation of the landfill. The mayor also said the effort will take years, as work continues.
