“No Kings Day” protests planned around region

Protests are planned around the Tri-Cities Saturday. The protests will take place across the Tri-Cities, including Kingsport and Abingdon. The event is part of “No Kings Day,” a protest against the Trump administration, and happens the same day as a military parade in Washington, D.C. The protest in Kingsport will begin with a convoy of decorated cars starting in Jonesborough, going through Johnson City and Bristol, before making its way to Kingsport. Organizers for the event have spoken with local police departments and have come up with a safety plan to make sure everyone remains safe. The “No Kings” protest will have a “convoy stop” at Founders Park at 9:30 a.m. for participants to gather before heading to Kingsport.
