CCSO: Suspect shoots self while warrant being served

One person was taken to a hospital Friday evening with self-inflicted, life-threatening injuries after deputies with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve an arrest warrant. At 8:30 p.m. Friday, deputies attempted to serve a warrant for aggravated animal cruelty at a residence on Ed Carpenter Road, when deputies reportedly heard a gunshot. Deputies entered the home and located an individual suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The individual was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. TBI and the Carter County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the incident.
