Buchanan County Sheriff’s office says a man has died in their custody

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office announced that a man in custody “tragically passed away.” According to the sheriff’s office, an adult male passed away Wednesday evening while in custody and following the policies and procedures of the Sheriff’s Office, two deputies have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues. Virginia State Police is investigating the death. The name of the deceased individual has not been released.
