Man indicted by grand jury arrested for aggravated statutory rape

A man was arrested Saturday in Sullivan County and charged with three counts of aggravated statutory rape following an indictment by a grand jury. Logan Starnes was indicted in Sullivan County Criminal Court in July. Starnes allegedly committed three counts of aggravated statutory rape between Oct. 6 and 7, 2024. A panel of jurors determined Starnes did allegedly unlawfully engage in sexual acts with a person older than age 13, but younger than age 18. Court documents added that Starnes was at the time at least 10 years older than the victim. Starnes was given a $50,000 bond and released Sunday after posting bail. Starnes’ next court appearance is scheduled for October 10 at 9 a.m.
