TDOT signals lane change on I-26 bridge to finish flood repairs

TDOT is shifting traffic in Unicoi County from one lane to another on an Interstate 26 bridge—signaling progress in hurricane flooding repairs to east and westbound bridges across the Nolichuckey.

The pattern will remain the same with east & west traffic using one lane between Exit 39 & 40 but the shift will move vehicles to the outside lane. That switch begins on Friday, August 15. The other development is the reopening on the westbound I-26 on ramp at Exit 40 on Jackson Love Road.

The eastbound crossing was completed in March and TDOT estimates place the westbound bridge opening to traffic on September 15—one week before the first anniversary of Helene hitting Northeast Tennessee.
