Work to get underway soon for new Town Acres Elementary School

Crews could begin construction on a brand new Towne Acres Elementary School in a matter of weeks after Johnson City commissioners just approved a $43 million construction contract. Commissioners chose J. A. Street to build the new school expected to be completed in June 2027. Officials say a groundbreaking for the new facility is expected in the coming weeks. Once the new school is in service, the old facility will be demolished to add parking and additional traffic lanes.
