Kingsport woman sent to 4 years in prison for her role in $1 million COVID grant rip-off
A federal investigation reveals a Kingsport woman and others created bogus businesses with no employees to bilk the IRS out of $1.8 million in money earmarked for struggling owners during the COVID pandemic.
Alyissa Glidewell, 35, was sentenced to 4 years in prison in her hearing in US District Court in Greeneville.
Glidewell pleaded guilty to wire and mail fraud conspiracy in March for her role in the scheme with a group of others who sent in false tax returns and other requirements needed for the COVID grants.
