JC man facing federal child exploitation charges

A man faces federal child exploitation charges for allegedly using the online video platform Roblox to victimize a 13-year-old girl. 19 year old, Cayden Newberry of Johnson City, is charged with three different crimes against the minor, who’s family lives in NJ. He faces a minimum 30 years if found guilty on those charges separately. The investigation began in September following a complaint by one of her parents to local police. The complaint says Newberry sent a phone to the victim and used apps like Telegram, Discord and Instagram. It also claims she tried to block Newberry, and he threatened to extort her unless she committed additional acts on camera.
