Ballad Health reports rise in flu cases in the region
Ballad Health says flu cases are on the rise in the area. Chief infection prevention officer Jamie Swift says both Influenza A and B are circulating right now, with cases of B being a little bit higher than in previous years. Ballad reported seeing hundreds of outpatient flu cases in December, the most during the week of December 21–27. Swift said she expects peak numbers to come soon and for the cases to begin coming down at the normal time. Health officials say that basic prevention measures, such as washing hands and getting vaccinated, can help reduce the risk of getting the flu.
