Teenager wounded in Kingsport shooting dies from injuries
A charge against a juvenile has been upgraded to first degree murder as the victim of a Wednesday shooting dies from his injuries.
Classmates and friends held a candlelight vigil over the weekend for 15-year-old Malek Jones, a Kingsport City Schools sophomore, who was wounded in a Robertson Street shooting in what Kingsport Police called an isolated incident.
The juvenile charged in the case remains on the run while 25-year-old Haley Locke was charged as an accessory—allegedly driving a getaway car for the suspect.
A GoFundMe account has been started to help pay for expenses for Jones’ transport back and burial in his native Florida.
