Barry Brickey drops out of Sullivan County mayor race

Barry Brickey has dropped out of the Sullivan County mayor race. Brickey, who serves as the public education and information officer for the Kingsport Fire Department, announced he was withdrawing from the race on Wednesday evening, less than 24 hours before the deadline to submit a petition to run. As of Wednesday evening, two candidates had filed their petitions to run for mayor, county commissioner Zane Vanover and Board of Education member and former county commissioner and mayoral candidate Angie Stanley. In his withdrawal announcement, Brickey endorsed Vanover. The deadline to file a petition is noon on Thursday.
