Up to $2 million in grants secured for Erik Anderson Park rebuild
Carter County has secured up to $2 million in grant funding to rebuild and improve Erik Anderson Park in Roan Mountain which was destroyed by Hurricane Helene. Carter County officials say both the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation collaborated with the mayor’s office and state and local officials to secure the grant. The Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded a $1 million no-match grant to restore park amenities impacted by Hurricane Helene’s floods. Those funds are dedicated to pre-existing features at the park. TDEC made up to $1 million available through its Local Parks and Recreation Fund. TDEC’s funding offers flexibility to install new amenities at the Park.
