Doe Mountain Recreation Authority receives grant for new shelter

The Doe Mountain Recreation Authority in Mountain City announced Friday that it has received a grant through Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative for a new picnic shelter and trailhead improvements. The new 24×36 picnic shelter will be located at the Adventure Center entrance adjacent to the Yamaha Trail. It will provide covered staging and instructional space for visitors to the recreational area. The shelter is designed for things like riding clinics,safety briefings and volunteer trail workdays. Officials say that the project is expected to be completed within the next six months.
