TBI is investigating officer involved shooting in Unicoi County

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said it is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Unicoi County Saturday night. The release from the TBI says that Unicoi County deputies responded to a report of a man in the roadway in the 100 block of Lower Higgins Creek Rd. Saturday, just before 11:30 p.m. Deputies encountered the man who became combative. The situation escalated, resulting in one deputy firing shots at the man, which did not hit him. Deputies then deployed a stun gun and took the man into custody. No deputies were injured during the incident and the investigation continues.
