Man arrested in Johnson County for slitting dog’s throat
Authorities in Johnson County have arrested a man accused of slitting a dog’s throat. Joseph Morefield was charged with aggravated domestic assault and aggravated cruelty to animals. A dog was found with a 7-9 inch gash and required more than a dozen stitches. The dogs name is Mylie, and is now in the care of Rescue DOG & End of Life Sanctuary in Mountain City. According to the police report, the alleged female victim feared the knife would be used on her, but she was able to lock the suspect out of the house and was not physically harmed. Morefield is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, April 29.
