East Tennessee man armed with a sword fatally shot

An East Tennessee resident was released from police custody following his interview about a fatal shooting.

A preliminary report from Jefferson County officials said the victim shot by the Dandridge resident was carrying a sword at the time of his death Thursday just after 10 pm.

CPR attempts at the scene on Riverfront Circle were unsuccessful. The body was transported to Knox County for an autopsy.
