Deputies arrest Jonesborough home invasion suspect armed with hammer, dagger, shotgun and hatchet
A fully-armed suspect equipped with a hammer, shotgun, dagger and hatchet during a home invasion in Jonesborough is charged with multiple felonies.
A Sheriff’s Office report said Alvin Chad Ray, 52, of Johnson City pointed the gun at three people inside the home on Pritchard Drive just before 3:30 on Sunday morning.
One of the victims was able to get away from Ray and call police while the two others tried to disarm him, resulting in one victim being hit multiple times with the hammer. Deputies subdued Ray and then found a bag in the home’s garage containing two rolls of duct tape, a length of wire, rope and an open pocket knife.
Ray was arrested and charged after he was discharged from the hospital this week following treatment from head injuries suffered during the incident and is being held in jail without bond.
