Convicted felon stopped for cell phone use in Bristol is back behind bars
Erik Silcox served a 7-year sentence for attempted murder after a confrontation then pulling a gun on a Norton police officer in 2015.
The 32-year-old Abingdon resident is back inside a cell facing multiple charges after Bristol Tennessee officers found weapons during a traffic stop.
Silcox was originally stopped for using a cell phone behind the wheel and then tried to run from officers who then took him into custody, according to a city report. They also removed a pistol, brass knuckles, narcotics and drug paraphernalia from Silcox’s vehicle. The report noted that Silcox has a history of violence towards law enforcement officers.
Court records show Silcox entered an Alford plea in Virginia court for his convictions in Norton.
