VA. Gov. Spanberger sends compromise budget proposal back to lawmakers
Governor Abigail Spanberger sent a compromised Virginia budget proposal back to lawmakers with 14 amendments over the weekend. The proposal would require an additional $62 million dollars of the State’s surplus, currently estimated around $179 million. Some of the proposals include clarifying language concerning sickle cell treatment under Medicare & Medicaid, and technical changes to provisions governing the Data Center Electricity Consumption Tax. The proposal also addresses, Paid Sick Leave, phasing in coverage for all employers by 2029. Most changes would take effect July 1, 2027.
