Former Lincoln Elementary PTO officer indicted for two counts of theft
The former treasurer of a parent teacher organization for Lincoln Elementary and Sevier Middle schools was indicted by a Sullivan County grand jury after a state comptroller’s investigation.
Jessica Slaughter is charged with two counts of theft over $2500 after prosecutors said she mismanaged more than $9000 in PTO funds by placing them in personal bank accounts over a 12-month timeframe.
The PTO, dissolved last February, was cited for not producing accounting and internal control policies and failed to identify as a nonprofit with the state Attorney General’s office.
