Washington Co VA Board tables proposed 1% sales tax increase

The Washington County, Virginia Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to table a resolution that would have put a proposed 1% sales tax increase on ballots in November. Additional revenue generated by the tax increase would be expected to go to construction and renovation projects at county schools. A recent facility study by a local architectural firm identified about $70 million of needed upgrades. Supervisors voted to table the resolution until December.
