Mountain City receives $22.5 million for wastewater infrastructure improvements
The U.S. Department of Commerce announced Wednesday that Mountain City has been awarded $22.5 million for wastewater infrastructure improvements to support industrial growth in the region following Hurricane Helene in 2024. Town of Mountain City Mayor Jerry Jordan says that it’s is a record-breaking grant amount for the Town and the County. Deputy Assistant Secretary and COO Ben Page said the projects provide an economic outline and updated infrastructure for job creation and business expansion in areas hard hit by recent natural disasters, while also increasing communities’ resilience for future events.
