GOP state senator breaks ranks, endorses Hatley in Tennessee governor’s race

Tennessee State Senator Janice Bowling broke ranks with her party and runs the risk of GOP penalties after she gave Johnson City businessman David Hatley an endorsement in next month’s midterm elections.

Earlier this summer, Bowling, of Tullahoma, had pledged support for US Representative John Rose in the GOP primary run. Bowling has been the senator for District 16 for the past 14 years.

Hatley, the owner of a hot tub and golf cart business, plans to spend $20 million before the end of election cycle and purchased almost $3 million of TV & streaming advertisements last month, according to published reports.
