NESCC students re-engineer custom chair for toddler facing hip surgery
A group of Northeast State Community College students using their classroom skills to change a toddler’s life. A Sixteen month old toddler is preparing for major hip surgery to treat hip dysplasia, facing up to twelve weeks of recovery. To help her heal, Design Skills USA students, from Northeast State Community College, stepped in to re-engineer a custom support chair on a tight, two-week deadline. The students built a second chair for Niswonger Children’s Hospital, and the family of the 16 month old plan to donate her custom chair there as well once she recovers—helping even more children down the road.
