TN judge orders preservation of evidence in botched execution
A Tennessee judge has ordered state officials to preserve all evidence from last week’s botched execution of Christa Pike. The mandate covers syringes, medical waste, log books, and text messages within the execution chamber. Pike survived two doses of a lethal injection drug on September 30th. Her legal team says she recently regained consciousness at a Nashville hospital, feeling “angry and confused”. She faces a long recovery with pneumonia, a blood clot, and severe damage to her arms. Following the failed procedure, Governor Bill Lee has suspended all executions pending a third-party review.
