Johnson City Board of Dwellings Standards and Review takes no action during public hearing, Haven of Mercy to remain open for now

A Johnson City board will allow the Haven of Mercy Homeless shelter to remain open for now.
This decision follows Thursday night’s Board of Dwellings Standards and Review meeting, where the board held a public hearing to listen to concerns from residents, as well as an architect who is currently reviewing the property. One of those residents spoke to the board and feels he and other occupants should be able to continue living at Haven of Mercy while the building is being brought up to code.
Board members still have concerns about the living conditions of the residence but will allow the architect to present the property’s as-built drawings at the board’s next meeting on March 25.
