VSP: Charges pending in fatal Lee County domestic related shooting

One person is dead and Virginia State Police are investigating following a domestic related shooting Wednesday night in Pennington Gap.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a violent domestic situation at a home at the 9400 block of US Highway 421 around 7:30 p.m, where authorities say Kevin Corbin, 47, forced his way into the residence of his in-laws.

Preliminary details allege Corbin was violently dragging his wife out of the front door when the woman’s father shot at Corbin. Upon arrival, deputies reported that Corbin died of his injuries sustained in the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing and VSP say charges are pending following consultation with the Lee County Commonwealth’s Attorney.
