Trial date set for father and son accused of killing store employee during robbery

The father and son accused of killing 23-year-old Tava Woodard while she was at work appeared in Washington County Criminal Court Wednesday. Mark Anthony Sexton Jr. and his son Mark Anthony Sexton III have been charged with first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery in connection to the June 2, 2023 homicide. Judge Stacy Street scheduled a status update for Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. Jury selection in the murder case is also scheduled to begin on Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m.
