Big South Conference tourney begins Wednesday

Johnson City is playing host to 18 basketball teams that are part of the Big South Conference tournaments this week. It’s expected to result in more than $6 million of economic impact for the Tri Cities, more than what was received from all area events in 2023. Visit Johnson City hopes the economic boost will go beyond hotels and restaurants. Fans can receive a guide of businesses and attractions they can visit between games and can participate in a selfie scavenger hunt at key landmarks across the city. Take a selfie at all nine locations, and you could win a weekend getaway in Johnson City. The tournament kicks off at Freedom Hall Wednesday at 5 p.m.
