Soda and Candy may be off limits with new TN SNAP bill in committee

Using SNAP benefits to buy candy and soda may soon come to an end if the Tennessee Health SNAP Act continues its course toward approval. The bill passed in the House yesterday. The Senate version is still in committee. The Beverage Association has spoken out in opposition to the bill, saying it will be discriminating against their products. If the bill passes the Senate and is signed by Governor Lee, it would go into effect on July 1.
