VSP: Multiple people injured Thursday morning in I-81 crash

The Virginia State Police report that multiple people were injured after a crash on Interstate 81 North near Mile Marker 16 in Abingdon on Thursday morning. According to the Virginia State Police, two passenger vehicles and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash shortly after 7 a.m. near mile marker 16. The Abingdon Fire Department said that when crews arrived, two vehicles had people trapped inside and one vehicle was on fire. All were successfully extricated and given care. Victims were then transported to nearby hospitals.
