North Broadway Street in JC paving project begins

A release from Johnson City says multiple projects and road repairs will impact North Broadway Street in the coming weeks. Public Works crews will begin milling and paving North Broadway Street between East Main Street and East Watauga Avenue on Wednesday, June 11. The roadway will have temporary lane closures impacting traffic between 7 a.m.-7 p.m. The work will take approximately three weeks. Then, Norfolk Southern will temporarily close the railroad crossing on North Broadway Street near J.C. The closure is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24 through Thursday, June 26 or until all necessary work is completed. During this timeframe, the crossing will be closed to all traffic including emergency vehicles. The estimated completion date for all maintenance in the area is variable as it is tied to Norfolk Southern’s rail crossing maintenance and weather. Drivers should expect delays, use caution in the work zones, and follow posted speed limits.
