Lee County approves tax increase to fund school system

The Lee County board of supervisors approved a tax increase at a Wednesday meeting. A week ago students, parents, teachers and administrators gathered to advocate for more funding for the county school system after fearing potential school closures. The board approved a 34% tax increase which allowed for the $7.1 million local match that the school board had wanted.
