Kingsport road resurfacing projects underway

The City of Kingsport announced its street resurfacing program for summer is underway. The city says that the first project will include paving in the Cooks Valley area from Harbor Chapel Road to Fort Patrick Henry Lake. Around eight miles of Cooks Valley roadway will be paved, at a cost of $2.5 million with completion expected in the fall. Repairs to Crescent Drive are ongoing, and a portion of Airport Parkway near Jericho Drive will be paved by the first of November. TDOT is schedule to pave I-81 from I-26 south to near Fall Branch and on the Hawkins County portion of State Route 1 from the bridges over the North Fork of the Holston River west to Church Hill. Kingsport will experience approximately $5 million in street resurfacing work this year on more than 16 miles of city and state roads.
