Three people receive minor injuries in crash involving KPD vehicle

Three people including a Kingsport police officer were injured and transported to an area hospital following a crash Friday evening in the 800 block of Lynn Garden Drive. A Ford Explorer, confirmed to be a KPD officer, was traveling north on Lynn Garden Dr. near Truxton Dr., when a Nissan Frontier attempting to turn left from Dairy Queen on to Lynn Garden Dr. reportedly failed to yield the right of way to the police cruiser, causing the cruiser to strike the pickup truck. Both vehicles’ drivers and a passenger in the civilian vehicle were taken to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The KPD said Friday that injuries were believed to be “minor.”
