TBI: Man indicted for false reports of rape, harassment by Bristol police

A Bristol man has been indicted after a TBI investigation revealed he lied about being sexually assaulted by a city policeman.
Christopher Coffey, 42, was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of false reports following an investigation prompted by the District Attorney’s Office in October.
The TBI said Coffey accused a City of Bristol officer of rape while being searched at the Sullivan County Jail and had been harassed by officers on the city squad on multiple occasions. Coffey turned himself in Tuesday and was issued a $10,000 bond.
