Lee County VA to receive $5.7 million in state funding for projects

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin announced Lee County will receive $5.7 million in state funding for housing and wastewater projects. Lee County will receive $2.5 million for infrastructure development of 115 housing units and $3.2 million for a wastewater project. The housing project in Ewing will consist of 55 townhomes, 38 duplexes, 9 triplexes and 13 cottages. More than 37,000 yards of roadway will be constructed for the project, and more than 6,600 linear feet of new water lines. The Western Lee Wastewater Project will see the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant, processing 300,000 gallons a day. Roughly 32.4 miles of new sewer lines will also be installed in parts of the county that were previously underserved. According to the governor’s press release, the wastewater project will serve up to 735 residents, businesses, and institutions.
