Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal shooting

The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Wednesday. The sheriff’s office says the shooting was reported in the New Canton community during the early morning hours. Deputies discovered one male victim who was found deceased at the scene and an investigation led to one person of interest being identified. Authorities have identified the victim as 55 year old Jerry Michael Davidson. The sheriff’s office said there is no active threat as it appears the incident is isolated, and they are actively working to locate the suspect. The sheriff’s office said additional details will be released as the investigation continues.
