Smyth County Sheriff’s Office arrest alleged gang member

The Smyth County Sheriff’s Office arrested an alleged member of the Bloods street gang. The investigation revealed that Donte Durell McRay of 124 Remington Lane in Marion, had been traveling to Columbia, South Carolina to pick up narcotics and transport them back to Smyth County for resale. A search of McRay’s vehicle resulted in just over half a pound of methamphetamine. McRay was charged with Possession with intent to distribute, Transport into the Commonwealth with the intent to sell or distribute, and Conspiracy to transport into the Commonwealth one ounce or more of a Schedule 1 or 2 controlled substance. He is being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
