Believe in Bristol receives additional allocated funds from Bristol, VA
Believe in Bristol will now receive $70,000 in funding from the Bristol, Virginia City Council instead of the original $50,000 they started out the fiscal year with. The council voted unanimously to give the additional $20,000 in allocated funding to the non-profit on Tuesday night. The extra $20,000 in funding was held from Believe in Bristol in case the city wanted to use it for separate event funding. Believe in Bristol presented the city council with the proposal, stating they work on both sides of the state line and receive $70,000 from Bristol, Tennessee. The non-profit also noted that they work with a small staff in order to bring events to downtown and presented the city council with success rates of events hosted over the past year and ideas for future events that could be held with the additional funds. Bristol Virginia Mayor Becky Nave said the funding difference between the states was due to population difference but she’s glad the council was able to give Believe in Bristol the full allocated funding.
