Carter County and Mayor Woodby respond to lawsuit in new court docs

Carter County and Mayor Patty Woodby responded for the first time in court documents Friday to a lawsuit related to the former emergency management director’s firing. A recording of what the mayor said at a December 2024 commission meeting is now submitted to the court. In the response, attorneys for the county and Woodby denied the majority of the claims and said strict proof is required. The response also cited qualified immunity, which shields government officials from suit for performing their roles.
