Three people arrested in loan fraud investigation

Three people were arrested in a loan fraud investigation, which prompted a lockdown at Elizabethton High School. Marquis Harris, of Riverdale, Georgia; George King Jr., of New York City; and Michael Porter, of the Bronx, New York, were all arrested Tuesday by the Elizabethton Police Department. The police department received information from Northeast Community Credit Union concerning possible loan fraud. Investigators determined someone attempted to obtain a loan for $92,000 by posing as someone else. Harris, King, and Porter were arrested and charged with forgery, identity theft, and theft of property over $60,000. Due to the close proximity to Elizabethton High School, the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution while the suspects were arrested. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
