Steele Creek Park unveils new “invasive species” exhibit
Steele Creek Park is inviting visitors to its nature center to learn about invasive species with a new exhibit. The exhibit is called Aliens Among Us: Non-Native Invasive Species in the Park, and is open at the park’s nature center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. The exhibit showcases species like the emerald ash borer beetle, Japanese stiltgrass, kudzu, the spotted lanternfly and feral pigs. Nature Center Manager Jeremy Stout said the exhibit in the Lakeview Gallery was created by naturalist staff at the park. Starting Memorial Day, the nature center will remain open until 6 p.m. each day. Admission to the exhibit and the nature center is free, but Steele Creek Park has a $2 per vehicle entry fee.
