Washington County, TN Schools to discuss adding middle schools
The Washington County, Tennessee School system is considering a change. Washington County Schools Superintendent Jerry Boyd said discussions are underway to potentially create two middle schools. There are now10 elementary schools in the Washington County School System that serve pre-kindergarten through 8th-grade students. The proposed changes would group Pre-K through 5th grade, and middle schools would have 6th through 8th grade. The proposal is in the very early stages and if the plan were to happen, it would be years before any teachers or students would see any changes. Boyd also said any plan regarding teachers’ and staff’s positions being reduced was false. The Board of Education meeting is set for Thursday, April 2nd, to hear the community input for the proposed plan.
