UPDATE: Jury convicts Allen of first degree murder in deaths of brother and grandmother
Greeneville homicide suspect Jordan Allen was found guilty by a Criminal Court jury for the murders of two family members in 2022 following a four-day trial.
Allen was 16 when the killings took place. Investigators said the teen used a hammer to kill his younger brother Jessie Allen, 7, and his grandmother Sherry Cole, 59, on the family property.
Allen took the stand in his own defense on Thursday, telling jury members that his grandfather Bill Cole had committed the crimes and lied to investigators at the time about the homicides.
The judge retired the jury Thursday afternoon to begin deliberations fresh on Friday morning with the verdict being handed in just before noon.
