Domtar responds to federal lawsuit over alleged harmful odors
Domtar Paper Company is responding to a federal lawsuit over alleged harmful odors from the paper mill. Two people from Kingsport filed the suit in March, alleging the company’s odor emissions and wastewater treatment interfered with the community. The company admits it operates the facility, received order complaints, and was cited by the state. It denies causing harmful or noxious odors and damaging nearby properties. The company is also working to keep the suit from moving to class action, arguing the claims lack proof and neighbors have not suffered legally valid damages.
