$1.5 million in upgrades planned for Kingsport Aquatic Center

After swimmers beat the heat this summer by cooling off at the Kingsport Aquatic Center, the facility will undergo a $1.5 million facelift to help preserve its features.

New plaster, updated tile and filtration overhaul are part of the chores associated with the projects that will also include piping and pump improvements, new coatings for its waterslide, and new paint and plexiglass for its splash pad and outdoor park.

All those chores will commence in September.
