Former Emory & Henry football coach Curt Newsome has passed away

Former Emory & Henry Head Football Coach Curt Newsome has passed away. Newsome lead the Wasps from 2014 – 2023 and announced he was stepping down from coaching the Wasps in July of 2024 due to health concerns. Newsome also was an assistant coach at Virginia Tech during his career. The Hokies posted to social media saying that Newsome was “a respected leader at Virginia Tech, James Madison, Emory & Henry & across Virginia high school football and devoted his life to mentoring student-athletes & building championship programs.” Coach Newsome was 67.
