UPDATE, 1:30 p.m.
An attorney representing the Sevier County officers involved in a Wednesday shooting at a Pigeon Forge Parkway motel has released the name of the victim.
A published report said Victor LeRoy Brooks, 40, was shot and killed after he retaliated against the deputies who entered his motel room to serve a warrant.
The report said Brooks was being investigated for allegedly firing his weapon at some surrounding homes.
“…During the encounter, for reasons still under investigation, three deputies fired shots, striking Brooks. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were injured during the incident,” the TBI wrote in a prepared release.
The attorney noted that Brooks had a previous conviction for a bank robbery that also involved a police officers opening fire. Brooks pleaded guilty to attempted second degree murder in connection to that case.
